MANIFESTO
I am a collector and lover of beautiful things, reclaimed materials are treasures to me that I deconstruct and reassemble forming new assemblages, installations and objects for spatial storytelling. I merge digital technology with the handmade to produce artworks that combines the best of both worlds. I mix ancient with modern, my eclectic thread. I see in colour palettes & patterns, a conceptual thinker. I am a visual artist & landscape designer, meshing the two fields together. Inspired by creation, ancient and modern architecture, sculpture, interesting fashion designers’ past and present, primitive textile techniques, arts and craft, ephemeral art, I cross pollinate them all. Working across substrates, I dye, print, paint, draw, collage, stitch and digitally manipulate. I photograph what captivates me, archiving and utilising my imagery for concepts and collages. Deeply compassionate and sensitive to my surroundings, kairos moments, connecting with young and old, listening to their stories, draw their faces, their stories, my story. I forage for leaves, seed pods and botanica, to draw, identify, press, preserve and imprint. I process earth pigments for natural water-based paints, pastels and inks, to obtain particular colour combinations. I extract dye from plants to transform the unwanted cloth into the revered. Moved by profound poetic words and life breathing scripture from my Saviour. I immerse myself in nature, travel to faraway places, destinations for inspirations. I love to collect and wear vintage kimono style jackets and nomadic silver jewellery. Listening to the sound of inspirational, ambient music, these are a few of my favourite things.
