Underwater Crevice

Inspired by my time snorkeling at Brampton Island, where the reefs hug the shore allowing for snorkeling directly from the beach to the coral gardens. Narrow crevices provide habitat and shelter for countless small fish to gain refuge from predators, and at particular times of the day light would enter the crevice and create dramatic visual effect. The indigo velvet textured paper was achieved by using the residue from my indigo vat, along with butcher paper smeared with electric blue house paint. The monochromatic colour scheme was specifically selected, with dark blue to express a mood of drama.
