Hand printed and hand cut recycled papers using natural acrylic paint and pencil, applied to plywood board.
This is my main original artwork for this collection. The woman adorned with her Kusudama patterned kimono, sits proudly amongst the layered, hand-cut palm fronds, abstract shapes and silhouettes, with a calm and dignified manner. Inspirational elements were obtained from my travels to Japan, origami patterns and folds, the alluring blue shades of natural indigo dye, floating palm fronds, and portrait photographs captured for figurative illustration. I also extracted certain textures, colours and patterns from other artworks within this collection, carefully considering how Kusudama Kimino could be placed within a curated space complimenting other ranges within this collection.
