Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art of flower arranging, emphasizing simplicity, impermanence and the natural character and shape of each stem. Arrangements often only use a few carefully chosen branches, flowers and leaves. I love to experiment with this art form with foliage from my own garden, placed into a foraged bowl using a “kenzan” (pin holder or frog) to hold the stems in place. To treasure this moment in time I have replicated my floral arrangement into a collage for keepsake.
